My Wine of The Month for October is Koopmanskloof Pinotage 2025 (WO Stellenbosch).
It has inviting juicy berry fruit flavours infused with a touch of spice, and it’s very drinkable. I’d be delighted to buy this wine by the glass in a pub or restaurant. Although the back label says it’s oaked, I did not sense it, and that’s why I see it as a ‘by the glass’ or lunchtime wine.
Koopmanskloof’s website appears not to have been updated for a long time and the notes on Pinotage are for the 2019 vintage which says that vintage was ‘partially aged in 300-litre French oak barrel as well as selected premium French oak staves for 8 months’.
I bought it in the UK and it’s bottled by the winery with a convenient screw top.
